Your Absolute Ultimate Romantic Valentine’s Day Gift Idea

Valentines Travel Ideas
Valentine’s Day is the time of year for lovers and romantics of all kinds to show that love and affection openly without ridicule. Each year we try to find the perfect gift that will show our affection.

Flowers are sometimes appreciated. Jewelry is sometimes cherished. Chocolates are becoming less appreciated, as we seem to be looking for healthier options.

But what could we give to our special someone that would be cherished? One that would increase with anticipation beyond Valentine’s Day itself. One that would leave an everlasting impression on that special someone. And one that gives of our self (and also to our self).

That gift can only be a romantic cruise getaway! That’s right. What could be more romantic than be lavished upon while vacationing on the open seas?

Elegant dining rooms with mouth-watering cuisine tempt your palette. Watching the sun set into the sea. Moonlit strolls on the decks. Dancing into the night. Watching the sunrise over the water.

Who wouldn’t be impressed with such a gift? Besides all of the amenities on board ship, the exotic ports-of-call and the pampering service, we are also giving ourselves as we spend precious time with the ones we love.

Now I know that some of you are thinking that this would be a gift that only the most well-to-do could afford. But that is not the case! With published prices starting at about six hundred dollars for a week’s vacationing, more can enjoy the pleasure. A four or five day cruise can be even less.

Even if these rates are a little steep, there is a sea option that can be equally as unforgettable. A dinner cruise can be as affordable as a night on the town and be definitely more memorable.

No matter what type of cruise you may choose, it’s sure to be a hit this Valentines Day and one that will be long remembered.

Top 5 Reasons To Holiday In Romantic France

Valentines Travel Ideas
In any survey you’ll ever read that asks something along the lines of ‘where is the best honeymoon destination?’, France will almost always be in the top five, and it isn’t hard to see why. France has garnered a reputation for romance, and is a popular destination for people celebrating honeymoons, anniversaries, engagements, Valentine’s Day or anyone simply in the mood for love.

So if you’re looking for somewhere romantic to sweep the object of your affection of their feet, here are the five reasons why you should choose to visit France with that special someone.

In France you can:

Spend quality time together:
Romance isn’t all about buying gifts and planning fancy evenings – often the most romantic thing you can do is simply be together. France has over 5500km of beautiful coastline (for example Calais’ ‘Côte d’Opale’, Normandy’s ‘Côte Fleurie’ or Brittany’s ‘Côte de Granit Rose’), that offer the most beautiful walks in any season. If you’d prefer to stay inland, France also boasts some amazing gardens that manage to turn the very landscape into breath-taking works of art (see the Château de Chenonceau by the River Cher, the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, or Claude Monet's House and Garden in Giverny), so you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Take part in some unusual events together:
If going for walks isn’t your style, then consider the myriad of romantic events that France offers throughout the year; in winter Paris hosts an ice-rink outside the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville and a Poet’s Festival in Spring; for Valentine’s Day a small town named Roquemaure in the Gard region holds a free Lover’s Festival; and during July and August the gothic abbey at Mont St Michel holds a night-time tour.

Eat together:
Everyone enjoys romantic meals; and France is as famous for its love of good food and wine as it is for its love of romance. Even in Paris the restaurants cater for all tastes and all budgets; during the day you can visit one of the many cafes which nestle comfortably amongst the impressive architecture and after dinner you can share one of the decadent desserts with a glass of local wine.

Marvel at the sights together:
The Eiffel Tower at night is really all that needs to be said for this section; but just in case you remain unconvinced, check out the marvellous engineering accomplishment that is the Canal du Midi in Toulouse, or the fascinating Promenade des Anglais in Nice, or the imposing The Château de Versailles in Versailles. You won’t regret it.

Travel there incredibly easily:
If you’ve got good sea legs then all you need to do is make your way to one of the ports in south England and you can shop whilst you cross the channel on a ferry; the journey is not a long one and you’ll be watching the coast of France appear almost before you’ve gone in from waving goodbye to the cliffs of England. If you’d rather not brave the waves then simply board the Eurostar from London St Pancras, Ebbsfleet International or Ashford International and sit comfortably until you arrive in Paris barely two hours after – it’s even less travelling time if your destination is Lille or Paris, and the TGV will take you anywhere you need to go from there. You could even fly cheaply from airports across the UK, so there really is no excuse not to book a romantic holiday today – the food, wine, festivals, art and architecture are only one the other side of the Channel!

The Unforgettable Romantic Gift – Memories For Valentine’s Day

Valentines Travel Ideas
Valentine’s Day is the time when our hearts and minds turn to love and romance. We think of ways to show the ones we love just how we feel. But many of us are looking for something longer lasting than flowers or chocolates.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to offer our loved ones an unforgettable gift that will stay with them forever? One of the only things that can last a lifetime is our memories.

For Valentine’s Day, an offer of loving memories filled with romance can be the very best gift of all. How can we find such a gift?

First of all, we need to be prepared to give our time. Romantic time spent with loved ones is cherished for eternities. And the best part is that when you spend this time with that special someone, we are giving ourselves the same gift! Yes, we will remember these special times for the rest of our lives as well.

Romantic vacations will supply the venue for your gift of time. A romantic cruise would provide an even higher level of romance.

What could be more wonderful than watching the sun rise over an exotic island from your private balcony. Or standing on deck arm-in-arm as the sun sets into the azure sea. Each morning you awake and step out onto your balcony to see what new adventure the day will bring – sun and sea or exotic port-of-call.

Today’s cruise ships are more like floating resorts than ships. There are activities to entertain you from morning until the wee hours of the following morning. You have the option to take part in as many – or as few – of the activities as you like.

The elegant dining room adds that extra romantic ambiance. There are alternate fine restaurants that offer exquisite cuisine as well. And of course, if you so choose, the buffet is serving dinner as well.

There are a number of shops on the large cruise ships as well for those shop-til-you-drop vacationers. These can provide romantic moments as well with their excellent selection of jewelry and fragrances.

By booking your romantic cruise as a Valentine’s gift, you will have the added pleasure of watching the excitement build in your loved one as your vacation approaches.

And for that added touch of romance how about having a gift of cruise or resort wear for her to open when you arrive on board? Perhaps an elegant piece of lingerie or a sexy swimsuit.

If you aren’t sure that a cruise vacation would be romantic enough, you need to check out our seven article series Romantic Cruise Vacation – One Cyber Week at Sea.

Rekindle Your Romance Year-round

John, Paul, George and Ringo got it right-all you need is love. But sometimes the hustle and bustle of everyday life forces expressions of that love to fall between the cracks. With demanding schedules and a constant need for speed, Americans today are more on-the-go than ever before, leaving little room for much-needed "R&R" (relationships & romance).

But what the Beatles knew all along, Americans are finding harder to remember. According to the "Romance in America" survey, even the most obvious of romantic holidays-birthdays, anniversaries and Valentine's Day-have been forgotten at least once by nearly half (45 percent) of us. When it boils down to Mars vs. Venus, it's Valentine's Day that slips the minds of one in three men (31 percent) and the special "I do" day that one in three women (30 percent) tend to forget.

As if just remembering a special occasion wasn't enough, you can throw out that box of chocolates and cancel that floral bouquet delivery. It turns out the majority of Americans (42 percent) feel that a romantic getaway is the best gift to receive from a significant other.

You may be able to give without loving, but you can never love without giving. Here are a few simple, convenient and fun ways to express that love and celebrate your romance year-round:

Make a Getaway. Pack your bags and wave goodbye to the world for the weekend with Doubletree Hotels' Sweet Romance Getaway package. Each hotel plays "romance concierge," providing couples with Sweet Romance Selections-a guide to local romantic hot spots and activities-ensuring every moment of your getaway is memorable. Other amenities include deluxe accommodations, early check-in and late checkout, a bottle of sparkling wine and breakfast in bed.

Dine In. We all know the real way to our sweetie's heart-a home-cooked meal. Put the kids to bed, light a few candles, pour two glasses of wine or champagne and watch the evening sizzle as you treat the love of your life to what is bound to become a cherished memory. For a special after-dinner treat, snuggle up under a blanket with a romantic movie and a tasty dessert.

Camp Out. For those nature lovers, spend the evening outdoors together on a clear, warm night. Take a romantic stroll under the stars, enjoying the scenery and, of course, each other's company. If you're feeling adventurous, try camping out all night long (in the comfort of your own backyard) and watching the sun rise.

Relive Your Past. Re-create your history together by sending your sweetheart on a romantic scavenger hunt. Leave the first clue in the seat of your loved one's car in the morning before work. Send your sweetheart around town, picking up various treats and goodies you both enjoy (all prepaid and waiting) at your favorite bakery, wine store, etc. With the final clue, direct your special someone to the exact spot you first met. Be sure to reward your starry-eyed sleuth with a congratulatory kiss.

Give the Gift of Love. Nothing says "I love you" like a creative, homemade gift from the heart. Start by channeling your inner craftsman and decorate a small box any way you like. On the inside flap, write "101 Reasons Why I Love You" and enclose 101 brightly-colored strips of paper that feature handwritten notes declaring your love. Whenever your special someone is in need of that extra boost, suggest drawing a strip from the box and keeping it near all day long as a tender reminder of your love-the gift that keeps on giving.

Planning An Unforgettable Romantic Ski Vacation

Valentines Travel Ideas
What can possibly be better than a romantic getaway with someone you love? And when that getaway includes a shared love for a particular activity, it is that much better. For those couple who enjoy skiing, a romantic ski vacation can combine the best of all worlds – a chance to hit the slopes, enjoy fine dining, luxury accommodations, and, most importantly, time spent together.

Planning a romantic ski vacation that will be remembered takes creativity and planning. Begin first with a general locale in which you are interested. Consider the travel that would be necessary for certain locations and plan accordingly. A romantic ski vacation that includes a destination that can be reached by car can be just as wonderful as one that requires a plane flight. Your vacation can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose – if skiing the Alps has been a lifelong dream and you have the means to do so, make your romantic ski vacation part of a trip abroad; if you choose to stay close to home to stay within time or budgetary guidelines, you can still make your vacation an intimate and special experience.

The Internet can be a great place to research a number of different locations to get ideas on prices, weather considerations, events to consider planning around, and the like. Look for package deals that allow you to bundle services such as travel, accommodations, meals, and ski passes. You may even find romantic ski vacation packages that offer you a one price deal for a getaway.

Once you’ve chosen your destination, determine your accommodations for your romantic ski vacation. Considering reserving a room that has special amenities such as a beautiful view, a romantic veranda on which to enjoy champagne, or a whirlpool tub. Special touches planned ahead of time will do much to add to your experience as well – such as arranging for breakfast in bed, champagne in the room, and rose petals on the bed. Of course, part of a romantic ski vacation is the inclusion of romantic dining. Making special dinner reservations prior to arrival will make your getaway even more romantic.

Most importantly, make every moment count on a romantic ski vacation. After all, ultimately, it’s about the time the two of you spend together – on the slopes and off.
